Game Show Musical Chairs\Scavenger Hunt
Most of us know this game, but just in case...
Contestants sit in 10+ chairs in one line facing the audience. They have to find one item at a time. Everyone is looking for the same item at the same time i.e. a Pen, a Flower, a new Quarter... you get the idea. Each time they find an item they return to sit in any open chair. They must return each item from whom or where they found it before they get the next item.
Remove 1-2 chairs each time. The fewer the chairs the more difficult\rare the item you should ask for.
Here are a few standard things I ask for:
A Man's Belt
Lipstick
Business Card (Which I Keep)
Ladies Wearing Men's Shoes \ Men Wearing Ladies Shoes
American Express Card (Not A Visa Or Master card which is more common)
Glasses (They might be smart and bring 2 drinking glasses)
A Man With A Mustache
A Lady With A Tattoo (And Yes! We Ask For Verification)
Here are a few other unique things I ask for:
Toilet Paper (Not Tissue, I want it from the Bath Room)
Source of Birth Control (I get popped Balloons, a knife...)
Something a lady wears that you don't normally see. I know what you are thinking, and so does everyone else, but I explain I'm looking for something "G" rated.
I don't tell the audience but here are a few:
Perfume
Hand Lotion
Hair Spray
and yes I will accept a Bra, a Slip...
Balloon Dance
We select 6 guys to sit in chairs facing the audience and 6 gals, facing the guys (partners style). Each gal has 3 deflated balloons. The object is for the gal to hand one balloon to their partner at a time. Guys blow up the balloon and place it on their laps. The gals have to sit\jump on their lap\balloon and pop it.
First team to pop all four balloons wins. Usually I play Pop Music by M, an old disco favorite, or Dirty Pop by N’sync during the game.
Wild Buffet
Face it, there is nothing fun when the buffet comes out, people smell the food, and has to wait for their table to be called to the buffet (Especially if you’re the last table). Here’s a way to make waiting more palatable (no pun intended):
Trivia questions are called out. The first table to answer 2 questions correctly the fastest is invited to the buffet.
The first table willing to do the YMCA on their way to the buffet (by way of the dance floor) will be invited next to the buffet.
The next table invited next wears sunglasses and has to sing “I heard it through the grapevine” while strolling in a line, snaking throughout the audience.
Next, a representative from each table comes over to the balloon bouquet that I have prepared in advance and pops a balloon. Inside the balloon is a piece of paper with a task which they have to perform.
Then there are those who are willing to "sing for dinner", where the table must complete a verse of a song I read to them or play for them.
The String Game \ Spoon Race
Teams: 2 teams, 10 or more each and 100 feet of small diameter rope (no this isn’t tug-of-war) with a spoon attached to one end of the rope.
Object: Get the spoon from the front of the line to the back of the line thru the clothes of each member of each team. First team to get the spoon to the last player in the line wins.
Play: Each team lines up, shoulder to shoulder. A spoon, with the string attached, starts at the front of the line. Each member passes the spoon through the shirt\dress sleeve, across the chest, and out the other sleeve, passing the spoon to the next person in line.
Enhancement:
Sometimes we place the metal spoon in ice for 5 minutes, before starting the game.
The Marshmallow Game
Props: 1 Straw for each team member
1 or more Marshmallows per team member
2 Bowls per team
Teams: 3 or more per team with 2 or more teams.
Setup: Each team member has his or her own straw. Each team has 1 bowl of Marshmallows.
We supply a minimum 1 Marshmallow per team member. Each team has 1 empty bowl on the opposite side of the playing field\playing area.
Object: Relay style race. 1 member at a time, using the straw sucks up one marshmallow (with the straw). Crosses the playing field and blows the marshmallow into the empty bowl.
Each player runs back and tags the next person on their team to Suck & Blow. First team with all the Marshmallows in what was the empty, now full, bowl wins.
Sometimes we also make them take the marshmallows back to the original bowl (if we wanted to blow a little more time. Ha Ha Ha.)
Hula Hoop Dance
4 members of the wedding party are each given a hoola hoop. We play a fast country song or two while they hoola hoop for about 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, they have to randomly select someone in the audience to take over for the next 30 seconds. By an audience vote, a winner is determined. This is one of the more popular and humorous games we do.
Limbo Dance
This is done in the traditional manner, where audience members bend backwards to walk under a limbo bar, which gets lowered each time the group of participants goes through. Usually we recruit the Best Man and Maid of Honor to do the bar holding and judging. We play the “Limbo Mix”, Gloria Estefan’s “1-2-3”, “Kokomo” by the Beach boys.... etc. Very popular at weddings!!
The Shoe Dance.
This is a Kids (8+) game, or a fun game for adult singles.
We place boys on one side, girls on the other. Everyone takes off his or her shoes. Boy’s shoes in one-pile and girl’s shoes in another. Boys go to the girls pile and select a pair of shoes. Girls go to the boys pile and select a pair of shoes. Both boys and girls select shoes at the same time.
Next, everyone has to find the person who has his or her shoes and dance with that person. Or, find the person whose shoes you have and dance with that person.
Balloon Suit Contest
We pick 3~4 people to wear the suits, they pick 3~4
people to be on their team. We give them all a bag of
balloons and play a song. They have the length of the
song to blow up and stuff as many balloons in the
suit as possible. At the end we parade them around
the room, then we ask everyone to help us count as
we pop the balloons one by one. The team with the
most balloons wins. This is really fun. This one is
defiantly a "Kodak" moment.
Encore
This is a simple game that tests contestant’s ability to think fast. We divide a large group into 2 or more
teams usually divide into gals and guys for good competition). We yell out a word that is commonly found in songs (love, road, river, girl, baby, need . . .). The teams must sing a song in unison (together) using that word. The first team to do it wins a point. The first team to score 10 points is the winning team.
Snow Ball Dance
This is a great icebreaker game to get people out on the dance floor at the start of the event. Fist the bride and groom are invited out onto the dance floor, and we start playing Chattahoochee by Alan Jackson. The Bride and Groom dance for about 30 seconds, after which they each grab new partners from the audience when I yell, “snowball”. The 4 now dancing in turn find new partners after 30 more seconds when I yell, “snowball” again. This repeats until the dance floor is packed.
Another Great Marshmallow Game
Each person on the team has a toothpick in his or her mouth. Without using their hands they must pass the marshmallow down the line, sticking their toothpick into the marshmallow and passing it to the next person. Of course the team with the most toothpicks that stay in the marshmallow wins.
Toe Jamming
The Marble-pickup consists of a bucket or container with 10 glass marbles inside. Each one person from team gets a bucket. The trick is, that the container is filled with jello, and the team trying to get the marbles out has to use their toes. The team with the most out is declared the winner.
Gargle It
We love this one.... All it requires is a glass of water. We secretly show a team member the name of a well-known song or tune, it can be anything, chart song, nursery rhyme etc. We get them to take a large gulp of water and they must gargle the tune and the others in their team try to guess what it is. If the team guesses it we move on to a harder tune keeping score. The first time they miss they are out. This resulted in some hilarious water coming down someone's nose.
Suck and Blow
This racy title just happens to describe what you do. We form 2 teams; about 10 people in each team, and have them pass an index card down the line as fast as they can use only their mouths. You need to suck in wind to keep the vertical card on your lips in order to pass it (by blowing out) to the next person in line. This game is especially great with the guys, because if one person drops the card at just the right point, the two come very close to locking lips. If you want to see a 200 pound man giggle like a little girl, this is the game to play. The first group to pass the card all the way down and back wins.
The ALKA-SELTZER Game
We supply 2 contestants with an ALKA-SELTZER and some carbonated clear drink... such as Sprite, 7UP, maybe Ginger Ale, or Squirt. We tell each of the participants to place the ALKA-SELTZER underneath their tongue. Don't worry they won't be able to taste or swallow it with it under the tongue.
Now... We give them each a cup of the clear carbonated drink. The OBJECT is to see who can hold it in their mouth the longest, but trust me; it will EXPLODE and SPEW out of their mouths! It won't hurt them... but yuck. It is not about how much they can "drink." It's about how long they can hold it. The winner is determined by an audience vote.
The Stamp Game
We give each contestant a pile of 1-cent stamps and on the start they must lick them and stick them to their faces. The one with the most stamps stuck to their face in 1-minute’s time wins. Believe me when I say that they look pretty funny in the end with a bunch of stamps stuck to their faces!!
Music Trivia
This is a game we virtually always perform at corporate events, but is fun for any event. We play 10 second clips of 20 various songs of different genres. Each table of 4 people or more constitutes a team. With a supplied form, they write down who they think the artist is, and what the song title is. They get one point if they know either the song title or the artist, and get 2 points if they know both. The 20th song is a bonus clip worth 5 points if they know the song title, and 5 additional points if they know the artist. Usually the 20th song is an obscure song that had limited radio play, or it may be a popular song played backwards. The winning table is the team that scored the most points.
Word Association
We form 2 teams of 5-7 people. We pick a topic and go down the line of contestants telling them to speak words associated with the topic. If I said "Presidents", the contestants could respond with Clinton, Gore, Washington, White House, Election, etc. - anything associated with "Presidents". The way a person is out is if they repeat something that has already been stated, or they pause more than 2 seconds. We make sure to involve the audience by having them scream "You're OUT!" when someone makes a mistake. Here are some of the topics as examples:
Breeds of Dogs
Beer brands
Types of Fish in a lake
Types of fish in the ocean
Name something that is spicy
Fast food places
Things you might see in the sky
Name what you would take to the beach with the word "beach" in them.
Thanksgiving foods
Animals you may see in a zoo
Make a recognizable animal sounds
Mixed drinks
Types of bread
Beatle songs
Name things you would find in a shower or bathtub
Things you find under the bed
Disney characters
Things you would find in a Victoria Secrets Catalog
Fruits
Name a muppet character
Toppings on a pizza
Name a sports team that is named after an animal
Name a key on a keyboard that is not a letter or number
Name things you talk to like you would talk to a person
Name things that you might pack in a suitcase besides clothes
This game may seem easy, but the game moves fast as guests typically get hung pretty quickly.
General Trivia
This by far is the most popular game for corporate events.
